Samuel Stokes, an American national was driven to India in 1904 by altruistic motives and later became a sort of Christian Sanyasi. He married an Indian girl, settled in Shimla and changed his name to ___(1)___ Stokes. He introduced ___(2)___ cultivation which has since played an important role in Himachal Pradesh’s economy.
