Homo Floresiensis is an extinct species of genus Homo, found on the islands of Indonesia,  who lived as recently as 12,000 years ago. The first set of remains to be found have an estimated height of 1 m. The specimen were given a nickname in a series of articles in the scientific journal Nature due to their short stature, based on a very popular fictional race from the world of literature.
